The "skirt" is called veil. It is a membrane attached to the edge of the cap, as the mushroom matures, the veil breaks, detach from the cap and allow spores to drop from the gills.

Great ideas for how to stabilize my wife’s sculpture we need to ship. I was thinking spray foam but didn’t know how to control it. The layers of cardboard look easy to control and plenty sturdy. Thank you!

DID YOU ONLY USE TRANSLUCENT CLAY FOR THE WHOLE PROJECT? BOTH WHITE AND PINK TRANSLUCENT OR DID YOU ALSO USE NORMAL WHITE AND NORMAL PINK FOR PARTS OF THE CANE? NOT CLEAR IF YOU ARE ONLY USING TRANSULUCENT CLAY.

I love my luminance. Their color range for skin tone is unbelievable. The best. However I must say Derwent Lightfast is also up there. When Derwent came out with that line…they really hit the ground running. I find myself reaching for the Lightfast even more than my Luminance. Unless of course I’m doing portrait work. Loved the swatching session. ❤
